Another Example Of Why Greensboro Isn't Green

Or, RecycleBill Throws Mud

A few years ago a friend of RecycleBill bought an old, abandoned K-mart building in Greensboro, North Carolina with the intention of starting a 100% indoor automotive recycling center. By keeping 100% of his business indoors he would not only reduce his losses to theft and provide better working conditions than most auto salvage yards (working on cars out in the weather is always tougher) but would also be able to maintain the strictest environmental controls of any automotive recycler in the world.

Of course, the "Green City" refused to allow him to do so which in turn forced my friend to sell the building at a loss. And no one from the city was ever available to provide an explanation. The building set empty for several years before it was bought by local developers at bargan basement prices.

My friend went on to move his used auto parts business and the jobs it provides to another city. He asked RecycleBill not to mention his name or the name of his business as he still operates several other businesses inside of Greensboro-- that is: until he can afford to move them to other cities.

Got an example of how Greensboro or any other city is greenwashing? Send it to RecycleBill@gmail.com with the words "My city is greenwashing" in the subject line of your e-mail.
