Bicycle Billboards

Or, Proving RecycleBill Right Again

RecycleBill got an e-mail from reader, NoOne, today telling him the following, "Have you seen this website? Billy, Somebody stole your idea...."

NoOne was referring to my now famous StreetPlane (Video here) and this new green business, I Peddle Ads so I replied, "Cool! I hope they do well. Most people think me insane so it makes me feel good when someone makes one of my ideas fly for someone else."

I was serious in my wishes for I Peddle Ads and anyone else who uses my green ideas but I'd like to make the point that ideas aren't really stolen, they're simply used by someone else. Those persons who follow Metaphysics call it the 100th Monkey Syndrome. Supposedly, when the 100th monkey of a particular breed learns a new behavior, every monkey of that breed, worldwide, will know it as well.

I Peddle Ads isn't the first bicycle advertising company in the world nor will they be the last. At some point in the near future, peddling ads via bicycle will reach critical mass, fortunes will be made and I'll be happy to have been one of the first 100 monkeys. Anytime a new idea comes into being it comes into being in many minds around the world. Take the Ronco Pocket Fisherman... Millions sold and I'm among the thousands of people who thought of that very same idea before Ronco started selling them. Did Ronco use my idea? Yes, but because ideas belong to everyone it was also Ronco's idea to use.

The same goes for RecycleBills Green Advertising. It might be that I never reach my goals or realize my dreams but someone will sell my idea to the Fortune 500 someday and for that I'll have no regrets because I tried even when people thought me crazy and the first to succeed using the RecycleBill's plan will prove me right again.

RecycleBill has lots of ideas as to how you can start your own green business-- feel free to prove me right.

By the way, if anyone is interested I still own the domain, StreetPlanes.com and might be interested in selling it.
