Or, 3 for the price of 1
In keeping with my list of Green Business Start-up Ideas I thought I'd tell you about an idea that someone somewhere is bound to flock to.
Chickweed is a problem for many homeowners. Personally, I'm rather fond of the stuff as it makes a great winter green vegetable but most people simply aren't smart enough to know how to save money by eating their yards so here goes my bird-brained idea.
First you'll need a flock of chickens and a small truck or a trailer to pull behind your fuel efficient automobile. The third item you'll need is a chicken tractor with a wire floor. (Not chicken wire but something with openings that measure roughly 3" x 4".) Most chicken tractors don't have any floor at all but as you're going to be lifing your chicken tractor filled with chickens you'll need to keep them from getting out.
You see, not only does RecycleBill enjoy eating Chickweed, chickens are crazy for Chickweed and will eat it right down to the last root leaving the yard Chickweed free. You could rent out flocks of chickens in self contained chicken tractors to homeowners who want the Chickweed out of their yards and as a bonus you could let them keep the eggs and the organic fertilizer-- their only byproducts-- and give your customers 3 for the price of one. Or keep the eggs and adjust the price accordingly.
Look, I know it sounds feather-brained but so was bottled water... And bottled water isn't even green. And what about portable dog washes? If somebody were to put a dog of mine into one of those contraptions I'd shoot the SOB who did it.
In keeping with my 3 for 1 theme here's a couple more blog posts thrown in with this Green Start-up Idea:
Just because it's built green doesn't mean it is green.
This is a greener Apple
Building new homes from used metal shipping containers is a green idea that's catching on but none of the articles I've read mention the condensation problems that come with all metal boxes and unless someone is doing some fancy tricks with the ventilation of these canned houses they could come back to bite you. If you want to stay with one story only then used 48' thru 53' freight vans (trailers) with FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic) walls would make a cozier and easier to maintain home once you knock the wheels out from under them. Container or trailer you'll still need to build the ground floor above a crawl space to prevent damage to the hardwood floors.

Wait, was that 4 for 1 instead of 3 for 1? II'm sorry but 'm going to have to retotal your RecycleBill,
