Some Folks Never Get It

Or, Green Reflections In A Brown Mirror
"We freely admit that RecycleBill’s Recycleblog is a bit different than what you might be used to reading when you think of green blogs or blogs in general. But it’s our hope that stories like The Adventures of the Vegetable Stalker (a green superhero) cartoons like RecycleToons and the various other works of creative fiction intermingled with non fiction articles about RecycleBills.com llc., recycling, energy independence, urban farming, going green and greenwashing will entertain as well as inform our readers even though we understand some folks just won’t get it. And to those of you who simply don’t get it: get over it and we’ll get over it too." From our about page where you can also learn about RecycleBills.com Llc. and RecycleBill should you care to know more.
A friend explained to me a while back that most people can't take serious information from the same source as where they look for comedy. And with just a few exceptions (think, The Daily Show) he's right.
The same is true of business. When RecycleBills.com Llc launches America's newest green business on July 1, 2009 a lot of people simply won't get it. Why? Because they've spent lifetimes entrenched in brown ways of doing business and have become mentally conditioned by the status-quo. Even some working in green industries will have a tough time getting their heads around the simple green concept we plan to introduce.
Then there's the traditionally brown industries with which we will be competing. Those businesses are going to do everything within their power to see us fail or steal our concepts. There's no laws that protect our concept-- only our name and product logos are protected. And those businesses control Billions of dollars-- we're starting with less than $10,000.oo.
Someone will get rich doing exactly what we plan to unveil on July 1st. And the odds are very good-- probable, in fact-- that old RecycleBill (the guy who dreamed up the concept, has committed his life's savings and believes so strongly that he's giving 100% of his publishing royalties to green non profits) that old RecycleBill will lose everything.
I admit, I'm scared. I've lost everything several times before. Sometimes it was my fault, sometimes it was someone else's fault and one time it was the result of a freak accident. But the older one gets the harder it is to rebuild. On July 1, 2009 I will turn 53 years old and currently the economy sucks. I've only a few months before I run out of money and not as many years to rebuild as I had before.
I first came up with the idea when trying to think of a way to help my boss save a struggling business but when I started putting the pieces together I realized the RecycleBills.com llc. concept was bigger than one small company with six employees. I realized that if successful, millions of American small businesses could increase their bottom lines while making the world greener than it is today.
So you see, it's not about making RecycleBill rich or famous. My own illusions of grandeur are kept in check by the medications I've taken without fail every single day for the last 4 years. I'm doing this because America needs a new green direction and somebody needs to point us in that direction even if that someone never gets to make the journey.
